“Mandela
Day on July 18 is an annual international day adopted by
the United nations, It is more than a celebration of
Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy; it is a global
movement to take his life’s work into a new century and
change our world for the better. Mandela Day asks us
all to embrace his values and honour his legacy through
an act of kindness.
The Mandela Day campaign message is simple: Mr Mandela
gave 67 years of his life fighting for the rights of
humanity. All we are asking is that everyone gives 67
minutes of their time, whether it’s supporting your
chosen charity or serving your local community.
The Liaison Office of South Africa will host a charity
event at the Taipei Homeless Shelter (THS) located in
Zhonghe District New Taipei City. We will prepare South
African cuisine that will be served to the homeless
people at THS.
There are 78 homeless men and women and 20 staff
members, meaning we will cater for approximately 100
people on the day. The details of the activity are as
follows:

Therefore the Liaison Office of south Africa (LOSA) will
be closed on the day for Mandela Day activities. Regular
office hours will resume the following day on 19 July
2017.

kind donations to be given to the homeless centre will
be apprecisted.
Mandela Day calls on us all, every day, to make the
world a better place. Making every day a Mandela Day,
celebrates Madiba’s life and legacy in a sustainable way
