1. Requirements for the application for a VisitoríŽs visa for holiday

    purposes(less than 90 days)




A duly completed Visa application form DHA-84 signed by applicant

Note: Under Permanent Residential Address, please state the address in the Taiwan where you reside.

Previous passport

All passports that you have used to travel on even if they have expired.

Valid passport

The visa will be affixed in this passport, ensure that the:

íP        Passports / travel documents is valid for thirty (30) more days after the intended return date from South Africa. 

íP        The passport  contains at least two (2) unused (blank) pages labeled Visa when presented at the LOSA. One page is for affixing the visa or permit at LOSA and the other page is for endorsement of entry/departure stamp by the South African Immigration Services.

íP        Machine readable valid passport with at least two (2) unused (blank) pages labeled Visa when presented at the Embassy or Consulate; one page for affixing the visa or permit by the embassy/consulate and the other page for endorsement of entry/departure stamp by the South African Immigration Services. Passport must be valid for 30 more days after the intended return date from South Africa


Visa pages referred to above do not include pages reserved for Endorsements, Amendments or Observations.

Copy of bio page of the applicant's passport


One (1) passport photos with white or light background.


íP                  The photo must measure 35mm width x 45mm height.

íP                  Set against white background. The applicant must be facing forward and in natural form (no open mouth / smiling; both ears must be visible)

íP                  The photo must have been taken within three (3) months.

íP                  No altered / photo shopped photos will be accepted.

Proof of itinerary/reservation of a flight for a return/onward ticket

Please do not purchase air tickets until you obtain a South African visa. LOSA will not accept liability for flight cancelations or changes to confirmed flight dates.

Proof of sufficient funds


Recent three months recent bank statements stamped by bank) for own maintenance for the duration of stay


The visa officer reserves the right to request a more recent bank statement if required

Proof of intended stay

Staying at rented accommodation:

Confirmed reservation at a Hotel/self-catering or BB accommodation


Invited to staff at a friend / relative

A letter of invitation from the host (relative or friend) in South Africa. This letter must be certified by SAPS in South Africa.

*      The letter should clearly outline the following: 

*      the names of the host

*      ID/passport number

*      Address of the property where the applicant will be hosted

*      Where applicable clearly indicate an  undertaking to take full responsibility for repatriation, accommodation and medical

*      Undertake to inform immigration where the invitee moves to alternate accommodation no specified in the application for the duration of the visit.


Certified copies of the following certified by SAPS,  the certification must not be older than 3 months.

*      Proof of hostíŽs legal status in South Africa (copy of I.D. Book/ passport if South African citizen) or copy of passport and a copy of visa or residence status in South Africa This must be certified by the South African Police Service

*      Proof of residence in the form of a utility account / or letter from a South African Bank (The address on the proof of residence and the invitation letter must correspond)

Yellow fever certificate

Original and copy of the applicants certificate is required where the applicant is passing through/ or been to yellow fever belt area before entering South Africa.


Where the applicant is a minor (below 18 years of age), the following will be required in addition to the above mentioned:


íP        Certified/notarized copy of birth certificate / Household registration form. If it is not in English please have it translated.

íP        Where only one parent is travelling with the child the parent who is travelling must submit a Consent letter from the other parent

íP         in case where the child is travelling alone or with someone else, the application must be accompanied by a consent letter(s) from both parents

íP        A statement or documentation detailing the purpose and duration of the visit



2  Requirements for the application for a VisitoríŽs visa for business

    purposes (less than 90 days)


SOUTH AFRICA VISITORíŽS VISA --- For business purposes

1) Duly completed DHA-84 (in black ink) and signed by the applicant (see attachment)

2) A passport with at least 2 free visa pages and must be valid for a minimum 30 days after the intended visit to South Africa and its copy ( biometric/signature page), and the old passport or any other passport that may have been used for travel to South Africa previously.

3) One passport photo - 35mm width x 45mm height against white background and not altered / photo shopped and taken within three (3) months. The applicant must be facing forward and in natural form (no open mouth / smiling; both ears must be visible)

4) Non-refundable fee of NT1110.00 in cash for visa fee required nationals.  Not applicable for Taiwanese passport holders;

5) A proof of flight reservation (a confirmed return/onward ticket is requested upon arrival at the port of entry)

6) Yellow fever certificate and its copy are required if applicants have travelled to or will travel from or through the Yellow Fever belt before entering South Africa, and must be issued for a minimum of 10 days prior to arrival in South Africa.

7) Proof of accommodation in the form of confirmed hotel reservation in South Africa

8) Invitation from South African based company with names and dates of birth of individuals invited

9) A signed guarantee letter from employer of applicant in Taiwan outlining responsibility for accommodation, medical and repatriation should it become necessary. It should be endorsed by the bank as a form of financial undertaking.

10) Copy of Business Certificate (of employer).
