Cultural relations between South Africa and Taiwan remains firm as reflected by the visit to South Africa by the 120 members of the National Taiwan Orchestra (Youth Group) who performed at the Pretoria State Theatre, Bloemfontein City Hall, Cape Town Baxter Theatre and Durban City Hall during August 2001.

SPORT

Various sport bodies from South Africa visit Taiwan to participate in sporting events.  The South African Basketball Club, "The Soweto Panthers", have competed in the William Jones International Basketball Competition in both 2000 and 2001 in Taipei, Taiwan.  Another example of South Africa's involvement in sport was the participation of South African Baseball team in 34th Baseball World Cup that took place in Taipei and Kaohsiung in November 2001.
