The South African Basketball Club, "The Soweto Panthers", have competed in the William Jones International Basketball Competition in both 2000 and 2001 in Taipei, Taiwan. Another example of South Africa's involvement in sport was the participation of South African Baseball team in 34th Baseball World Cup that took place in Taipei and Kaohsiung in November 2001.
